**The Position**
The Director, Employee Relations Lead will drive the employee relations strategy across EMEA, with direct oversight of EHQ operations. This role ensures compliance with labor laws, manages complex sickness cases, and oversees grievances, disciplinaries, and disputes. This position combines deep subject matter expertise in labor laws, employee relations case management, with a people-first approach that supports business continuity, compliance and positive associate experiences. The Director will lead complex ER matters, long-term sickness management, and participate in collaboration with employee representatives across key EMEA markets.
Working closely with occupational health and HR business partners, this role promotes consistent, fair, and compliant sickness and absence management at EHQ, contributing to a positive associate experience.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Strategic Leadership - Design and implement a forward-looking EMEA Employee Relations strategy and aligned policies.
- Employee Relations Oversight - Lead EHQ employee relations, ensuring excellence in sickness and conflict management. Ensure accurate and thorough documentation and case tracking.
- Data & Insights - analyze ER trends and sickness/absence data and recommend improvements leading to positive trends in associate well-being, retention, and ER efficiency.
- Compliance & Policy Governance - Enable continuous updates to processes and policies aligned with changing legal landscape as well Provide expert guidance on high-risk cases, ensuring compliance with law and policy.
- Sickness and absence trend oversight - overall process ownership as well as vendor relationship; design processes that allow for optimal use of digital tools as well as proactive analysis of trends
- Case handling - Lead investigations, driving fair and compliant outcomes.
- Develop, review and modernize ER - related policies and practices. Act as a solid partner to HR teams and managers on complex cases.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration - lead a develop a high-performing ER team; mentor and grow team capabilities.
Note: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those listed above. The role may require additional tasks and duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and organization.

**The Ideal Candidate**
The ideal candidate is a senior ER professional with deep experience in managing sickness, conflict resolution, and policy compliance. You bring a strategic mindset, excellent communication, and the ability to lead through complex, sensitive situations.
- 7+ years in Employee Relations, with expertise in sickness and conflict management, and a minimum of 5+ years of managerial experience
- Deep knowledge of labor laws and ER best practices relevant to EHQ
- Proven ability in handling long-term sickness and occupational health cases
- Strong background in managing grievances, disciplinaries, and disputes
- Skilled in interpreting and updating HR policies
- Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- Leadership experience with a focus on high performance and improvement
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Experience in retail, fashion, or consumer brands preferred

Key job responsibilities
We are seeking an ER Manager to support European Customer Service Operations which contains both a brick and mortar and remote workforce. The individual must have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence Operations managers, and human resources; to analyze multiple levels of associate/manager feedback to identify risks and gaps; to create, audit, and sustain positive workplace relations programs; and to design and conduct positive workplace relations training that drives best practices. A day in the life
The ER Manager will work reactively on crisis-oriented situations, traveling as necessary that typically can only be successfully addressed under severe time constraints. The position can be performed virtually outside of the primary markets with minimum travel of 50% or more. Individual must have an ability to detect, and address the hidden risk that are created with a remote population and work to adopt strong engagement plans to mitigate. The ability to dive deep into process and data is important, but equally essential is the ability to communicate effectively and authentically with Ops/HR leaders, frontline managers and associates.
About the team
The CS Employee Experience and Relations team is responsible for reducing risk to the business by creating and executing programs to develop the next generation of high-performing, associate-centric frontline leaders. This team is a tight-knit team of ER professionals, including former HR, operational and legal leaders. We are passionate about improving our leaders' skill sets in associate engagement across the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required;
- Experience in employee relations, functional human resources or/and labor/employment law
- Experience and solid understanding of employment and labor laws in one or more EU countries
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite systems including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications

**Qualifications**
+ Enrolled in a HBO/Bachelors program, either Hotel Management or Human Resources Management
+ Fluent in English
+ Strong communication skills
+ Trustworthy and handle with integrity
+ Open-minded, positive attitude and enjoy bringing laughter to the workplace
+ You are eager to learn and grow within hotel or Human Resources
**Preferred qualifications**
+ Fluent in Dutch
+ Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

In this role, you will take part in the different phases of the employee lifecycle from recruitment to onboarding and offboarding. You are the first point of contact for our colleagues and you will make sure that they will be the best version of themselves. You are an advocate for our brand and will be championing the luxury values of the Amstel Hotel throughout the hotel! Sounds good right?

And delivers truly memorable experiences to our colleagues as a result. You will be working with two other HR Specialists and the HR Director.
**A taste of your day-to-day:**
+ Taking part in the recruitment process together with our departmental leaders and recruiter to attract the best qualified candidates.
+ Working closely with the HR team to ensure that all administrative procedures are accurate and executed.
+ Being knowledgeable of current local and government regulations relating to employee practices.
+ Assist in/facilitate the onboarding training.
+ Onboarding new colleagues by setting up all necessary documents and ensuring that new colleagues feel welcomed and prepared to join the team.
+ Ensuring that the hotel has appropriate staffing and making recommendations in terms of selection and development activities to achieve set goals and brand standards for both hotels.
+ Assigning and monitoring of e-learnings and other IHG trainings in the hotel, specifically during the starting phase of new colleagues.
+ Responsible for internal communication and for the organization of social events.
+ Providing counselling on policies and procedures to employees of the hotel
+ Maintaining and updating files on employee records, legal documents and other personal matters efficiently and confidentially.
+ Building and maintaining a strong relationship with all colleagues, acting as the go-to person.
+ You facilitate presentations, hotel tours and workshops for hotelschools
+ Taking part in exit interviews and guiding the offboarding process.
+ Monitoring staff performance and sitting in on the annual end of year reviews
+ Representing the Amstel hotel as a key employer in the local community.
+ Promoting teamwork and lifestyle service through daily communication.
+ Ad-hoc duties as required - unexpected moments when we have to pull together as a team to get a task done.
**Profile**
+ Strong organizational, task-management and presentation skills.
+ Pro-active attitude and eye for detail.
+ Knowledge and passion for luxury and hospitality
+ Teamplayer
+ Knowledge of all applicable local employment and labor laws.
+ Excellent communication skills in Dutch and in English.
