Als HR Officer maak je deel uit van het HR & Recruitment team. Gedurende de dag ben jij het eerste aanspreekpunt voor onze medewerkers voor een diversiteit aan HR-gerelateerde vragen. As Human Resources Trainee you will have diverse learning opportunities:

Learning opportunities

  • Take responsibility for the onboarding process, ensuring a warm welcome for all new colleagues. You will coordinate with new employees and department heads to plan and schedule their onboarding programs.
  • Learn all about the recruitment process by assisting with posting vacancies, updating recruitment websites, and selecting and inviting candidates. Depending on your interests, you may also gain experience in interviewing and hiring.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including drafting contracts, updating employee files, and managing correspondence.
  • Support colleagues with labor law questions and other HR-related inquiries, handling concerns with integrity and taking ownership in providing appropriate solutions.
  • Organize colleague-related events such as General Staff Meetings and Staff Parties, and manage internal communications, like monthly birthday and anniversary lists.
  • Gain insights into HR policies and processes.
  • Receive a personal development plan according to your career aspirations and set learning goals together.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a HBO/Bachelors program, either Hotel Management or Human Resources Management
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Trustworthy and handle with integrity
  • Open-minded, positive attitude and enjoy bringing laughter to the workplace
  • You are eager to learn and grow within hotel or Human Resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Dutch
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Live in the Netherlands.

Are you passionate about Human Resources and eager to learn in a dynamic hospitality environment? Join our close-knit HR team at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel as an HR Intern, where you'll gain hands-on experience across all areas of HR-from recruitment and onboarding to associate relations and learning & development.
During your internship, you will primarily focus on the administrative side of HR, supporting daily operations such as maintaining personnel files, preparing contracts, updating systems, and assisting with reporting. Once you've mastered these core tasks, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibilities in areas like recruitment and L&D initiatives, contributing to the full employee experience.
You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, development, and a positive work culture.
This internship reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
**This internship is available from February 2026.**
**What you'll do**
Serve as the first point of contact for associates with HR-related questions, helping to maintain strong associate relations.
Provide administrative support across all HR functions, including maintaining employee records and updating the payroll system.
Assist in organizing and coordinating TakeCare activities and other internal events to support associate well-being and engagement.
Support the onboarding process to ensure new hires have a smooth and welcoming start.
Assist in preparing HR documents such as contracts, letters, and reports.
Once familiar with core administrative tasks, support recruitment activities such as scheduling interviews and posting vacancies.
Contribute to internal communication efforts, including newsletters, digital updates, and town hall preparations.

**What we're looking for**
A friendly and professional team member who likes to go the extra mile. You are service-minded, proactive and innovative colleague!
+ You are currently pursuing a relevant Bachelor's degree, preferably in Hospitality or Human Resources.
+ You have experience in Hospitality
+ Able to join for a minimum of 5 months
+ You have strong organizational skills and can perform well under pressure.
+ You are ambitious, flexible, and bring a positive attitude to your work every day.
+ You speak fluent English and/or Dutch; additional languages are a plus.
+ You hold a valid work permit or documentation that allows you to work in the Netherlands.

In this role, you will take part in the different phases of the employee lifecycle from recruitment to onboarding and offboarding. You are the first point of contact for our colleagues and you will make sure that they will be the best version of themselves. **A taste of your day-to-day:**
+ Taking part in the recruitment process together with our departmental leaders and recruiter to attract the best qualified candidates.
+ Working closely with the HR team to ensure that all administrative procedures are accurate and executed.
+ Being knowledgeable of current local and government regulations relating to employee practices.
+ Assist in/facilitate the onboarding training.
+ Onboarding new colleagues by setting up all necessary documents and ensuring that new colleagues feel welcomed and prepared to join the team.
+ Ensuring that the hotel has appropriate staffing and making recommendations in terms of selection and development activities to achieve set goals and brand standards for both hotels.
+ Assigning and monitoring of e-learnings and other IHG trainings in the hotel, specifically during the starting phase of new colleagues.
+ Responsible for internal communication and for the organization of social events.
+ Providing counselling on policies and procedures to employees of the hotel
+ Maintaining and updating files on employee records, legal documents and other personal matters efficiently and confidentially.
+ Building and maintaining a strong relationship with all colleagues, acting as the go-to person.
+ You facilitate presentations, hotel tours and workshops for hotelschools
+ Taking part in exit interviews and guiding the offboarding process.
+ Monitoring staff performance and sitting in on the annual end of year reviews
+ Representing the Amstel hotel as a key employer in the local community.
+ Promoting teamwork and lifestyle service through daily communication.
+ Ad-hoc duties as required - unexpected moments when we have to pull together as a team to get a task done.
