As part of the R&D organization, The Material Science TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) Software Group is committed to bring value-adding and groundbreaking software solutions to our customers that help them with their success. Global Digital covers all software created in the MSD-EM related sites, globally over the world. Main R&D sites can be found in Eindhoven (the Netherlands), Bordeaux (France), Hillsboro (US), Brno (Czech). The group is responsible for the complete software stack, from FPGAs to embedded and application software.

Transmission electron microscopes are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are being developed and used today. Software is essential into exploiting all the potential of these microscopes, pushing the limits of current physical technologies. These microscopes are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences, and the semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our lives in many aspects. By contributing to this software development, you help the development of better vaccines, new lighter and stronger materials, or more efficient semiconductors.
**Research Question**
Our Sherpa application is a Python and QT based GUI application. It serves our factory and field service departments as a GUI for alignment and calibration procedures. It is also used within our R&D department as the application for rapid prototyping. New routines are integrated into Sherpa as plugins.
Crafting and integrating a new plugin is currently a manual task. The coding is repetitive and the plugins containing business logic have a lot of code duplication. Next to this, the current plugins do not follow a well-defined UI design pattern.
The vast majority of the plugin code can be generated! This assignment is about understanding the needs from R&D to build prototype plugins. Then enable system engineers with tools to hook the plugins to groundbreaking algorithms.
**Assignment**
Develop a plugin generator to generate the code to connect the GUI layer to the business logic. The generated code shall follow an industry-standard design UI pattern. It shall generate Python code.
The input will be a UI configuration, crafted by a UI design tool. The generator that will be built in the assignment will use this as input to generate the code implementing the plugin. The generated code shall provide a standardized way to connect to business logic of various algorithms.
**Candidate's Profile**
+ Experience developing applications in Python.
**This will give you an advantage**
+ Experience with design patterns, generic and UI specific.
+ Experience with code generation.
+ Experience integrating UI application with business logic, preferably with QT.

The Software developer is member of the Software Development Team implementing and extending complex system functionality to serve our customer/users to communicate while they are executing critical tasks. The Software Development Team is a multi-disciplinary team working according to Agile/Scrum rules delivering high quality software. You will be part of the Software & IVVQ department in the Engineering Organization. Customer focus, Empathy and Ownership are the values in the team to guide us on our journey and building a future we can all trust.

- Design and Implementation : Design, implement, and test features with a focus on scalability, performance, deployment, and user experience.
- Coding Best Practices : Apply best practices to produce high-quality, reusable code.
- Security : Implement security best practices for web applications.
- Collaboration : Work with other developers to share knowledge and enhance the overall product.
- Technology Trends : Stay updated on the latest technologies and frameworks.
- UX Interaction : Collaborate with the UX team to ensure user experience concepts are correctly implemented.
- Agile Methodology : Follow agile methodologies, including creating user stories and tasks for a robust, user-centric system.
- Source Code Management : Regularly archive source code into the repository.
- Issue Resolution : Participate in issue investigation and deployment of applications and new releases in testing/integration environments.
Profile:
- Education : You hold a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Team Dynamics : You thrive in a DevOps/Agile/Scrum team setting and excel in high-pressure environments that require quick thinking and adaptability.
- Technical Environment : You aspire to work in real-time settings that blend low-level technical challenges with high-level functionality, closely interfacing with hardware.
- Versatility : You are eager to work on diverse devices such as Radar, embedded calculators, Smartcards, and wearables, particularly in the Telecommunications and IoT sectors.
- Embedded OS Software : Proficient in developing on embedded operating systems like Linux, VxWorks, and FastOS Linux.
- Embedded Software Development : Experienced in languages such as C, C++, VB.NET, ADA, and Assembly.
- Tool Proficiency : Skilled in using programming performance tools and measuring instruments.
- Simulation Tools : Expert in developing and adapting simulation tools for integration/testing activities.
- System Design : Experienced in embedded system and application design, with knowledge of communication protocols and interfaces like DDS and ARINC.
- Strategic Knowledge : Strong understanding of data processes, mathematics, and statistics.
- Customer Focus : Ability to address customer needs effectively.
- Cloud Experience : Familiar with cloud providers like AWS or GCP.
- Automated Deployment : Knowledgeable in technologies such as Helm, YAML, Ansible, and Docker.

Tijdens je stage bij We Enable krijg je de kans om mee te werken aan uitdagende projecten bij onze klanten. Bij deze projecten maken we gebruik van front-end frameworks, PHP frameworks en maatwerk designs. Je krijgt een kijkje in onze keuken als het gaat om projectmatig werken. We koppelen je aan een van onze teams, waardoor je direct relevante praktische ervaring op gaat doen. We geven je de ruimte om je IT kennis en soft skills verder te ontwikkelen. Door de verschillende toepassingen die we ontwikkelen, kun je in korte tijd heel veel leren!
We Enable biedt volledige IT maatwerk oplossingen in de breedste zin van het woord. Zo maken we websites, webshops, web/mobiele apps, ERP-systemen en nog veel meer. Dit doen we voor verschillende klanten: van startups tot multinationals, en van bouwbedrijven tot Europese overheid.
