Senior Electrical Design Engineer wanted to join a fast-growing company that moves quickly. You will help scale the production of the Scout 3 and professionalize the design and testing of electronic systems at Lobster Robotics.

Lobster Robotics engineers autonomous underwater vehicles for precision seabed mapping. Our technology delivers millimetre-scale data for offshore energy and security of critical underwater infrastructure. We are expanding from prototype to operational deployment and are backed by strong traction from the Dutch Navy and NATO trials. We are now entering a phase of rapid scaling.

We care about making a positive impact by reducing vessel emissions and by providing seabed maps to support scientists and decision-makers in protecting and restoring nature. Our robots help monitor important underwater infrastructure such as cables for offshore wind farms.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and verification of the next generation of Scouts. You will set up production and development testing by designing jigs, selecting equipment, and scripting procedures. You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of electrical, embedded, software, and mechanical engineers, and coach junior engineers by reviewing their designs. You will be hands-on and capable of solving field problems through incremental design improvements to keep our technology progressing.

Responsibilities

Design and verification of next-generation Scout electronics.
Set up production and development testing, including jigs, equipment, and procedures.
Collaborate with electrical, embedded, software, and mechanical teams.
Mentor junior engineers by reviewing designs and sharing expertise.
Address field problems with incremental design improvements.

Qualifications

Excellent understanding of PCB design and manufacturing.
Proficiency in electrical CAD tools like KiCAD, Altium, and LTSpice.
Familiarity with oscilloscopes, lab power supplies, electronic loads, signal generators, VNAs, and spectrum analyzers.
Deep knowledge of power electronics, including high-power switch-mode converters and protection systems at frequencies > 1 MHz.
Experience with mechanical CAD tools like Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Onshape.
Strong attention to detail.
Experience with RF design and electromagnetic simulation is a bonus.
Familiarity with EMC and low voltage directive compliance; programming experience in Python and/or Rust is a bonus.
