Je bent als infrastructure engineer Werkplekken een expert op het gebied van ICT-infrastructuur en werkplektechnologieën binnen de meldkameromgeving. Je doet een stap naar voren op het moment dat het ertoe doet om alles in het werk te stellen de werkplekdienstverlening richting de meldkamers te ondersteunen. Met jouw kennis en kunde help je het primaire meldkamer proces zo effectief mogelijk te laten werken.

Je vormt onderdeel van een team dat aan de lat staat voor de continuïteit van +/- 1600 fysieke werkplekken, 2000 virtuele werkplekken en 150 servers. Door jouw proactieve houding voorkomen we verstoringen en zorgen we voor een gegarandeerde werking van de dienstverlening. Door het uitvoeren van beheer taken en het continue verbeteren van onze systemen help je actief mee aan een stabiele werkomgeving. Bij het verhelpen van verstoringen doe je een stap naar voren, werk je samen met collega's uit het team, maar ook uit andere onderdelen van de organisatie om de impact zo beperkt mogelijk te houden en een verstoring zo snel mogelijk te verhelpen.

Naast beheerwerkzaamheden speel je een actieve rol in projecten zoals life cycle trajecten van onze back-end systemen voor de werkplek dienst, denk hierbij aan bijvoorbeeld de migratie naar een nieuw operating system of de Citrix back-end. Maar ook applicaties en systemen die gebruik maken van onze werkplek. Op hardware gebied draag jij je steentje bij door bijvoorbeeld het certificeren van USB-kabels in de meldkamertafel voor een optimale werking met onze apparatuur en de product selectie voor de beeldschermen die door de centralisten op de meldkamer in gebruik zijn. Daarnaast speel je een actieve rol in het verbeteren van onze cybersecurity.

Je werkt daarbij volgens de richtlijnen van de LMS en houdt rekening met factoren als security, performance en beschikbaarheid. In deze rol sta je in nauw contact met zowel leveranciers als interne teams om een optimale ICT-dienstverlening te garanderen. Bij verstoringen sta je in nauw contact met de servicedesk, analyseert problemen en zorgt voor tijdige terugkoppeling. Je deelt kennis actief binnen het eigen maar, maar ook binnen de organisatie. Zo zorg je voor een soepele werking van de ICT-omgeving en continue dienstverlening.

De Landelijke Meldkamer Samenwerking is georganiseerd in zes voorzieningen en operationeel beheer. Vanuit de voorzieningen wordt regie gevoerd op bestaande meldkamervoorzieningen en worden nieuwe diensten ontwikkeld. Je gaat werken in het LMS-werkplekkenteam, onderdeel van de voorziening IV/ ICT.

LMS is een jonge organisatie die komende jaren robuust ingebed zal worden in de politieorganisatie. Het succes van LMS wordt bepaald door de medewerkers. Essentiële kennis en ervaring:

• Je bent bekend met werkplek- en virtualisatietechnieken, zoals VMware vSphere en Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops en Citrix Provisioning Services. Workspace management met bijvoorbeeld Ivanti Workspace Control is ook geen onbekende techniek voor je.
• Je hebt uitgebreide ervaring met Microsoft-producten. Zowel operating systems als Windows 10 en Windows 11 als Windows server producten en SCCM.

In this position, you will join the Python Infrastructure team, which currently consists of 2 members and the team lead. The team works on improvements to the Python code's maintainability, reliability, and scalability. Taking a broader view, this team is responsible for improving the codebases on a systemic level, upgrading widely-used dependencies, and improving its build systems. The team also spends time on writing proposals for architectural changes and facilitating discussions with other development teams (their primary customers).

• Continuously improve the maintainability and quality of our Python codebase.

• Remove technical debt by modernizing legacy code and carrying out large-scale migrations and refactoring.

• Monitor and improve the performance of our API endpoints and of our background jobs.

• Migrate our codebase to newer versions of Python and keep library dependencies up to date.

• Improve the performance and correctness of our test suite.

• Work on security improvements together with other security specialists in the company

• Collaborate with other developers to learn about what problems and opportunities they see.

• Building new features will not be the primary focus of this team. However, there are occasionally smaller Python-related projects that the team can pick up, when they don’t fall into the domain of any of the product teams.

You also:

• Have excellent backend development skills in Python or similar languages.

• Have significant experience working on larger production codebases.

• Are experienced with web technologies.

• Are comfortable with SQL and relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.

• Have experience with typing (mypy, pyright) in Python.

• Have high engineering standards: do you like to leave your code cleaner than you found it? So do we!

• Have a good working knowledge of Linux, git, and the command line.

• You are available for at least 32h per week 

• Live in the Netherlands or are willing to relocate, and have a valid work permit (if you’re a non-EU citizen).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Haskell, Nix or other functional languages.

• Experience in optimizing the performance of database queries and application code.

• Having worked with distributed systems before.

In this role, you will be the bridge between IT and OT. You will ensure that industrial systems work together optimally, both in new and existing factory environments. You will work closely with colleagues from Sales, Engineering, Service, and Innovation, and you will regularly visit customers on site to implement and improve solutions.

What will you be doing?

• Take stock of existing factory environments (brownfield) and assessing infrastructure and integration possibilities.
• Collaborating with Sales and (Project) Engineering, among others, to translate technical feasibility and customer requirements into our standard solutions.
• Implement OT networks at customers' sites according to the JBT Marel OT Blueprint.
• Draw up and execute detailed implementation plans with minimal impact on ongoing production.
• Maintain OT networks, including documentation and feedback reports.
• Act as a point of contact for the helpdesk and feedback from the field and contribute to the continuous improvement of standards.
• Actively participate in technical discussions and act as a sparring partner for PTO and Innovation.

• Bachelor working and thinking level, with a background in IT, Mechatronics, or Software Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience in IT-OT integration, networking, or system management. Experience in an industrial environment is a strong advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge of network security and remote access systems.
• Experience with OT environments in food processing is an advantage.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity guidelines (including IEC 62443), legislation (including NIS2 and CRA) and ISO/IEC 27001 is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is an advantage).
• Proactive, entrepreneurial attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel 40–60% of your time.
• Willingness to work 2 or 3 days per week at our location in Boxmeer, in case you are not travelling.
